2008 Growing Season
The 2008 vintage offered a long
cool growing season with moderate temperatures and a
very dry winter. The drought like conditions helped
regulate berry size and thus we ended up with smaller
than average clusters and berries. As winemakers we love
this because smaller berries means more concentration.
Harvest for our Cabernet officially started in mid October
and after a long superb growing season we had
another stellar vintage in the winery.
Winemaker Notes:
Calistoga is one of the warmest regions in the Napa Valley
and ideal for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Cabernet
comes from Barlow vineyards which is located just south
of Calistoga. Aromatically the wine offers ripe black
cherry with hints of sweet vanilla. The palate is soft and
luscious with flavors of dark plum and blackberry, finishing
with soft supple tannins.
